Recently, Sipeng Technology held a commissioning ceremony for its thousand-ton-scale flexible synthetic biology production line in Rugao (Nantong, Jiangsu). Representatives from shareholders including SDIC Innovation & Growth Fund, Bencao Capital, Shanghai SDIC Futeng Capital, and Rugao Sci-Tech Investment, along with leaders from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Rugao City, and Jiao Tong University Hanyuan Assets, attended the event.
As a pivotal component of Sipeng Technology's comprehensive synthetic biology ecosystem, the Rugao facility bears the dual mission of scaling up biomanufacturing technologies and achieving large-scale production. It is committed to becoming an innovation leader in synthetic biomanufacturing platforms. Sipeng (Nantong) is accelerating the development of a carbon-negative smart manufacturing platform for high-performance bio-based materials, with a product portfolio encompassing core categories such as carbon-negative new materials, polymer monomers, and high-value-added compounds. By driving the efficient translation of laboratory technologies into industrial applications, the company will continuously expand the application scenarios of bio-based materials, spearheading the industry's leap toward intelligent, non-food-based, and sustainable development.
Prior to the ceremony, Ms. Hu Weiwei, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Mr. Wang Minghao, Secretary of the Rugao Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Mr. Gu Jianguo, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Nantong Industrial Holding Group; Mr. Yang Zhenyu, Chief Investment Officer of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Education Development Foundation and Founding Managing Partner of Hanyuan Asset; along with other distinguished guests conducted an on-site inspection of Sipeng Technology's thousand-ton-scale flexible synthetic biology production line. The visiting guests highly commended the planning and construction of the production line and offered valuable insights for the company's future development.
On the same day, the 2025 Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Rugao Industrial Development Exchange Conference and the Jiao Tong University “Biomanufacturing” Tiangong Salon were successfully held in Rugao. At the event, attending leaders witnessed the signing of the Rugao Jiaoda Hanyuan Science and Technology Innovation Fund, which will continue to provide key support for technological innovation and project incubation in fields such as biomanufacturing.
