On October 23, 2025, the 12th Food Contact Materials Safety Risk Exchange and Innovation Conference, hosted by the Shanghai Food Contact Materials Association, was successfully held in Shanghai. As a co-organizer of this conference, Sipeng Technology actively participated and showcased its latest R&D achievements in bio-based materials utilizing synthetic biology technology.
From establishing a standard system for food contact materials to managing risks associated with microplastics and PFAS substances, the conference reinforced every link in the safety chain. Participants explored the green future of industrial upgrading, covering corporate transformation pathways amid the dual-carbon wave and the deep integration of smart manufacturing with sustainable development. New technologies and processes—including biodegradable materials, bio-manufactured materials, water-based barrier coating technology, and product reliability practices—were showcased collectively. This enabled technological innovations in food contact materials to translate into tangible momentum for industrial development, propelling China's food contact materials and related industries toward higher quality standards.
Deputy Director Zhou Jia of the Shanghai Municipal Administration for Market Regulation pointed out that food contact materials directly impact food safety and the ecological environment. Despite continuously strengthened oversight, the industry's standardization system remains incomplete, and quality risks persist. She emphasized the imperative to adhere to the development philosophy of “safety as the foundation, green leadership, and innovation-driven growth” to propel the food contact materials industry toward high-quality development.
This conference, themed “Smart and Green Integration, Empowering Development,” brought together numerous experts and scholars from regulatory bodies, research institutions, and the business community to jointly explore cutting-edge industry trends and technological pathways. The Sipeng Technology team was invited to present a report, sharing innovative practices and industrialization explorations of biomanufacturing technology in food contact materials.
